Job Title: Middle School Cross CountryCoach Location: Villa Bella Expeditionary, Pueblo, COReports To: Athletic Coordinator/ School PrincipalJob Type: Part-Time / SeasonalJob Summary:The Middle School Cross Country Coach is responsible for organizing and managing the school's cross country program for students in grades 6-8. The coach will foster a positive environment where students can develop running skills, endurance, sportsmanship, and a lifelong appreciation for fitness.Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and conduct regular practices focused on conditioning, endurance, technique, and injury prevention.
  • Teach pacing, proper running form, warm-up/cool-down routines, and race strategies.
  • Promote teamwork, perseverance, goal-setting, and sportsmanship among student-athletes.
  • Organize and manage tryouts, team selections, and meet logistics.
  • Supervise athletes during practices, meets, and team travel.
  • Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, school staff, and athletic administration.
  • Monitor academic eligibility and ensure compliance with school and league athletic policies.
  • Maintain and inventory team equipment and uniforms.
  • Provide a safe and supportive environment for all participants.Qualifications:
    • Previous experience coaching or competing in cross country, track & field, or distance running.
    • Understanding of middle school athletic development and appropriate training techniques.
    • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
    • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain before the season begins).
    • Ability to pass a background check following school policy.Preferred Qualifications:
      • Experience working with middle school-aged youth in an educational or athletic setting.
      • Coaching certification from a recognized organization (e.g., NFHS, USATF).Mandatory Background Checks: In alignment with our commitment to student safety, all candidates are required to undergo a comprehensive fingerprint background check.
