Job Description:

Unite America seeks a Political Director to join our External Affairs team. The Political Director will lead the organization's candidate support programs and build relationships with elected officials to advance policy and political objectives related to nonpartisan election reform. This role offers the opportunity to shape impactful political and electoral strategies and foster partnerships that support the organization's mission of promoting a more representative and functional government focused on serving the interests of all citizens. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and experienced political operator who thrives in a dynamic environment. They should have deep knowledge of the political landscape at the state and federal levels, experience in campaign finance and compliance, a proven ability to build strong political alliances, and a demonstrated commitment to cross-partisan collaboration. The Political Director will play a pivotal role in building the organization's influence to enact meaningful political and electoral change both in the near- and long-term. The position is ideally based at our headquarters in Denver, CO; however, we recognize talent nationwide. We are open to remote work and offer a stipend for relocation to Denver. Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning & Program Management
  • Develop strategies for engaging elected officials and candidates to support policy goals at state and federal levels.
  • Create and manage partnerships and grants with organizations.
  • Form coalitions to amplify influence and resources.
  • Build and execute new programs for candidates and elected officials.
  • Candidate Programs
    • Identify, vet, and track supportive candidates, ensuring engagement remains impactful and compliant.
    • Collaborate with the Campaigns team on strategies aligned with state campaigns and oversee contributions to candidates and PACs, adhering to legal standards.
    • Secure endorsements and coordinate candidate engagement with external partners.
    • Track contributions and expenditures against KPIs.
    • Elected Official Programs
      • Represent organizational priorities to policymakers through meetings, conferences, and outreach.
      • Design engagement programs to strengthen relationships and support policy objectives.
      • Build and maintain relationships with officials, staff, and stakeholders.
      • Collaborate with teams to provide resources, briefings, and policy modeling. Qualifications
        • At least eight years of experience in political campaigns, external affairs, lobbying, government relations, or related fields.
        • Strong commitment to cross-partisanship and collaboration.
        • Extensive knowledge of state and federal electoral landscapes.
        • Familiarity with campaign finance and compliance laws.
        • Exceptional relationship-building and coalition skills.
        • Proficiency in stakeholder mapping, advocacy, and data-driven insights.
        • Excellent communication skills for diverse audiences.
        • Experience in program management and operational execution.
        • Critical thinking and decisive action capabilities.
        • Self-motivated, adaptable, and committed to integrity and transparency.
