Position Summary:

Registered Nurse - Med/Surg Pulmonary Unit - RN Traveler Contract - 13 weeks with option to extend

UCHealth, Aurora CO

13 Week Travel Assignment

Full Time Day/Night Rotating

Position Requirements:

America Heart Association BLS, CO RN License or Compact License

Unit Description:

Inpatient pulmonary unit, which serves patients on a 36-bed Med-Surg unit providing care for a range of patients, nationally referred with complicated pulmonary diseases to admissions from the Emergency Department.

Patients include:

Pulmonary Hypertension (subcutaneous and intravenous prostacyclin therapy)

Thoracic Surgery (such as esophagectomy, lobectomy, pneumonectomy, etc.)

Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Surgery (head & neck cancers that require surgical intervention, such as laryngectomies, tracheostomies and free flaps/graft sites)

Oral Maxillofacial Surgery

Hospital Medicine (admits from ED & ICU with varying diagnosis and treatment needs)

Education:

Bachelors degree nursing is preferred

Job Duties:

Plans, implements, and evaluates patient care plans based on patient assessment to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources.

Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.

Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.

Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances. Effectively delegates patient care to ancillary personnel. May precept student nurses and new hires.
