Job Summary The lifeguard position holds primary responsibility for patrolling the pool area and enforcing safety rules and facility regulations. This is a safety-sensitive position exercising a high degree of discretion, trust, and confidence to properly execute duties efficiently. Individuals in this position are responsible for ensuring a safe, but fun swimming environment for all users of the aquatics facilities. Essential Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Must be 16 years of age or older. Current Lifeguard Training Certification including CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and American Red Cross Lifeguard Training. A combination of education and experience to provide for the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities. NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment background check. This includes, but limited to, a criminal history search, education and employment verification. Knowledge of pool and facility rules, regulations and other instructions, sufficient that the employee is able to enforce these guidelines in creating a safe environment for patrons and coworkers. Considerable knowledge of the equipment, facilities, operations, and techniques to effectively rescue or assist an individual in trouble. Ability to establish and maintain effective, positive, working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, and the general public. Necessary skill and ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with a broad range of individuals. Ability to learn and the skill necessary to successfully implement job related policies, laws, ordinances, and regulations. Ability to analyze situations carefully and adopt effective courses of action using problem-solving techniques. Flexibility of working hours for all shifts including mornings, days, nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call hours. Additional Information Part-time Town of Parker employees have limited access to benefits which include: employee assistance program (EAP), one (1) hour of sick time accrued for every thirty (30) hours worked, and employee plus one (1) other member in your household a membership to the Parker Recreation Center and/or Fieldhouse. The Town of Parker is an Equal Opportunity employer. Full pay range is: $13.47/hr. - $18.22/hr. As a part-time Town of Parker employee, you have limited access to benefits which include: employee assistance program (EAP), one (1) hour of sick time accrued for every thirty (30) hours worked, and employee plus one (1) other member in your household a membership to the Parker Recreation Center and/or Fieldhouse. 01 Are you 16 years of age or older? * Yes
