Description
Summary:
Receives, processes, and arranges requests for emergent and
non-emergency medical transportation (helicopter, fixed wing, and
ground ambulance) including dispatching of ground and air resources
for critical care patients. Ensures the most appropriate unit is
assigned in a timely manner; coordinates all aspects of the mission
and monitors the location of all transport units at all times,
maintaining safety as a priority.
Work Schedule: Full Time Rotating
Responsibilities:
Assigns and coordinates medical transports by aircraft operating
under FAA Part 91 and FAA Part 135 rules and regulations and
utilizes other ground assets.
Initiates the Post Accident Incident Plan (PAIP) and follows
established procedures.
Participates in transports by adapting to unpredictable situations
within the dispatch process by utilizing consistent, solid problem
solving skills. Helps facilitate the transition from one mode to
another when primary mode is unavailable due to weather or
maintenance.
Develops and maintains familiarity with dispatching client service
area geography, medical facilities, and requesting agencies.
Maintains records of information including pre and post-transport
patient documentation and transport records.
Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive
judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be
able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate
action.
Requirements:
Required Licensure/Certification: Certified Flight Communicator
(CFC) certification within 6 months of hire.
Minimum Experience: 2 years of previous EMS, law enforcement, or
critical care dispatching experience. Preferred: 1 year of
Helicopter Air Ambulance (HAA) and/or Fixed Wing Ambulance
dispatching.
The pay range for this position is: $23.49 - $30.53 / hour. Pay is
dependent on applicant's relevant experience.
